Around the World Party | Scotland

January 25th is Burns Night in Scotland. For those unfamiliar with Burns night, it’s a celebration of the life and work of the famous Scottish author, Robert Burns. Traditionally, a Burns supper is held, complete with pipers, poetry, and haggis. Such an occasion sounds like a great opportunity to plan another Around the World party. So its off to Scotland we go! This rugged, beautiful land is rich in culture, history, and tradition just waiting to be explored!

Saint Lucia Day Party

The 13th of December marks Saint Lucia Day, a festival of light and hope in Scandinavian countries. Coinciding with the winter solstice, Saint Lucia Day honors Saint Lucy, who brought food and aid to Christians hiding in catacombs from persecution by the Roman empire. Seeing as I have Scandinavian ancestors and Swedish friends, I’ve always wanted to throw a Saint Lucia Day party. I’ve put together some adorable crafts and delicious recipes that kids are sure to love! Besides getting everyone in the Christmas spirit, a Saint Lucia Day party is also the perfect opportunity to teach kids about a […]

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin season is officially in full-swing. Grocery stores and farm stands have stacks of pumpkins. Doorsteps are adorned with pumpkins of every size. And families are visiting local pumpkin patches to pick that perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin. Once all the pumpkins have been gutted and carved, what do you do with that bowl of slimy pumpkin guts and seeds? Before you throw the baby out with the bath water, pick out those seeds and make a batch of roasted pumpkin seeds. These rich, salty seeds are as addictive as a bag of potato chips and are the perfect snack to get […]

From the boisterous streets of Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon rainforest, there’s so much to explore in South America’s largest country. Vamos!

Crafts for a Japan themed party, including a coffee filter fan, a bubble wrap cherry blossom painting, and origami.

Around the World Party | Japan

Like I said in my last post, I started doing Around the World themed parties for the nephew and niece last summer as a way to spark their curiosity in travel and different cultures. Every month I list a handful of different countries and let them pick which one they want to explore next. Then I hop on Pinterest and Google to find some kid-friendly activities to explore that country’s history and culture. A few weeks ago my nephew chose Japan for our next get together, and here are some of the ideas I came up with.
