Today is the start of Doctor Who series 10! I can’t believe it’s finally here! Which means it’s time for the final installment of The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls. This roly-poly doll is inspired by the Doctor currently bouncing around the universe in the TARDIS: the 12th Doctor. Peter Capaldi’s incarnation of the Doctor has a tremendous amount of gravitas and ferocity, but he’s also quite mischievous and passionate. So without further adieu, I give you a 12th Doctor doll that’s sharp, mysterious, and ready to explore the universe.
We’re coming into the home stretch of The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls series. Today’s doll is inspired by the 11th Doctor. Matt Smith brought an almost paradoxical combination of youthfulness, sagacity, and eccentricity to the role. Steven Moffat put it best when he said that Matt Smith and his Doctor are both “like a young man built by old men from memory.” All that energy and quirkiness makes for quite a charming cool roly-poly doll.

Today’s The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls post is inspired by the the first Doctor of the “modern” series: the 9th Doctor. Christopher Eccleston brought a sense of weight and mystery that the rebooted program vitally needed. His doctor could be brusque and distant but also brilliantly sarcastic and witty. Out of all the Doctor-inspired dolls, this is the easiest to make. Yet for all its simplicity, this doll wonderfully captures all the charm of the 9th Doctor.

Today’s The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls post focuses on the War Doctor, who made his surprise debut in “The Name of the Doctor” and played an integral role in the 50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor”. John Hurt’s Doctor was much more quiet and reflective than any previous (or future) incarnation. But despite his somber nature and rugged appearance, this Doctor’s ready to stand against evil and say, “No more!”

This time it’s a doll inspired by the 8th Doctor, who featured in the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie. Paul McGann’s incarnation of the Doctor was enthusiastic, charming, and romantic. Simple to make, this stylish 8th Doctor doll looks ready to take on the likes of the Master.
Just one more week until the start of Doctor Who series 10! And we’re rolling on with The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls. Today we turn our attention to the 7th Doctor. Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor was an affable chap whose bumbling nature was often used to disguise his sharp, calculating intelligence. With a dashing Panama hat and his famous umbrella, this 7th Doctor doll is just as eccentric and astute as his inspiration.

Colin Baker’s Doctor could be be a bit smug and irascible, but underneath it all he was still the same old Doctor with a heart of gold. And green. Maybe some plaid.
