Roly-Poly Dolls | Donna Noble

Yesterday I made a miniature, roly-poly Captain Jack Harkness doll. Today I’m making a roly-poly replica of my favorite companion, Donna Noble. With pencil and paper in hand, this adorable version of the feisty and compassionate Donna is ready for whatever adventure Space Man throws at her.

Salt Lake City Comic Con starts this week! And since two of my favorite Doctor Who stars, John Barrowman and Catherine Tate, are attending this year, I thought I’d take the opportunity to make some additions to my roly-poly doll collection on this blog. First up is the enigmatic and flirtatious Captain Jack Harkness.

Banoffee Bread

Banoffee Bread

Everyone has a tried and true recipe for banana bread tucked away somewhere in their kitchen. A recipe that’s been handed down through the generations. It’s time to spice up that dusty, old recipe with an English twist. This bread has all the sweet, decadent flavor of a slice of banoffee pie without all the work.

Today is the start of Doctor Who series 10! I can’t believe it’s finally here! Which means it’s time for the final installment of The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls. This roly-poly doll is inspired by the Doctor currently bouncing around the universe in the TARDIS: the 12th Doctor. Peter Capaldi’s incarnation of the Doctor has a tremendous amount of gravitas and ferocity, but he’s also quite mischievous and passionate. So without further adieu, I give you a 12th Doctor doll that’s sharp, mysterious, and ready to explore the universe.

We’re coming into the home stretch of The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls series. Today’s doll is inspired by the 11th Doctor. Matt Smith brought an almost paradoxical combination of youthfulness, sagacity, and eccentricity to the role. Steven Moffat put it best when he said that Matt Smith and his Doctor are both “like a young man built by old men from memory.” All that energy and quirkiness makes for quite a charming cool roly-poly doll.

I can’t believe there’s only 3 more days until the start of Doctor Who series 10! Up next on The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls countdown is the 10th Doctor. David Tennant brought tons of enthusiasm and passion to the role. His incarnation of the Doctor was brimming with energy and charisma, punctuated every now and then by intense darkness. Kitted out with his signature suit, coat, and sonic screwdriver, this geek chic Doctor makes an adorable roly-poly doll.

Today’s The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls post is inspired by the the first Doctor of the “modern” series: the 9th Doctor. Christopher Eccleston brought a sense of weight and mystery that the rebooted program vitally needed. His doctor could be brusque and distant but also brilliantly sarcastic and witty. Out of all the Doctor-inspired dolls, this is the easiest to make. Yet for all its simplicity, this doll wonderfully captures all the charm of the 9th Doctor.

Only five more days until the new season of Doctor Who! Today’s The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls post focuses on the War Doctor, who made his surprise debut in “The Name of the Doctor” and played an integral role in the 50th anniversary special, “The Day of the Doctor”. John Hurt’s Doctor was much more quiet and reflective than any previous (or future) incarnation. But despite his somber nature and rugged appearance, this Doctor’s ready to stand against evil and say, “No more!”

A roly-poly 8th Doctor doll (Doctor Who).

Another day closer to the start of Doctor Who series 10 and another new doll on The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls. This time it’s a doll inspired by the 8th Doctor, who featured in the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie. Paul McGann’s incarnation of the Doctor was enthusiastic, charming, and romantic. Simple to make, this stylish 8th Doctor doll looks ready to take on the likes of the Master.

Roly-Poly Dolls | 7th Doctor

Just one more week until the start of Doctor Who series 10! And we’re rolling on with The Twelve-ish Doctor Dolls. Today we turn our attention to the 7th Doctor. Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor was an affable chap whose bumbling nature was often used to disguise his sharp, calculating intelligence. With a dashing Panama hat and his famous umbrella, this 7th Doctor doll is just as eccentric and astute as his inspiration.
